Our Young Agricultural Entrepreneurs Program offers a unique opportunity to our urban youth to learn about starting a business and explore agricultural opportunities.
Up to twenty five youth, ages 7-14, will participate in our ten week program in developing and operating an agricultural business. The students will walk through the process that an entrepreneur would take to start a business.
The centerpiece of the project will be a startup business: a small, urban-garden CSA or a farmer's market. Together, they will draw up a business plan, "recruit investors," meet with experts who will help them in the
development of their business model, launch the "business," and participate in its operation.
The program will be competitive and at the end of the program, there will be an awards presentation for the "best of" in several different categories.
Our program offers;
- Better nutrition
- Develop of basic job skills
- An understanding of the economics of
entrepreneurship
- Involved, responsible mentors actively
engaging with youth
